The Mappists are Flora Gregory and Nimmi Naidoo We are artists in residence at the Wychwood Project Being in the Wychwood is a socially-engaged project that has been created with The Wychwood Project. It will offer people different ways of connecting with a natural environment, will raise awareness that connecting with nature can improve wellbeing and inform people about the footpaths in the area of the Wychwood Project.

Being in the Wychwood will consist of two participatory activities. Come into the Woods:Topples Wood and The Map Room:Make your Mark! Join us during Oxfordshire Artweeks 2020, on Saturday 9th May, Sunday 10th May, Saturday 16th May, and Sunday 17th May, at the Mappists’ studios – Wilcote Art Studios, Hunts Copse, Wilcote Riding, nr Finstock, OX7 3DX. Oxfordshire Artweeks advises that studio visits no longer take place in view of the coronavirus outbreak.

Come into the Woods: Topples Wood will take place in the woodland of the Wychwood Forest behind the Mappists’ studios. It will offer different ways of connecting with trees and woodland, including an audio work, poetry and performance, and an area for forest bathing.

The Map Room:Make your Mark! Participants will be invited to mark their favourite walks on a map of the Wychwood Forest. The Map Room:Make your Mark! will also appear at summers fairs in the Wychwood Project area and at the Wychwood Forest Fair, Little Park, Cornbury on Saturday 6th September 2020.
